Why Choose Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is the ideal choice for those who want a smoother, healthier, more glowing complexion—and who also want to remove their fine facial hair. This skin exfoliation treatment removes dead, dry skin and unwanted peach fuzz with the goal of refreshing and revitalizing the look and feel of your skin.

Dermaplaning Treatment Details

Dermaplaning in the Worcester, MA area is a comfortable, in-office treatment with zero pain. Before we begin, your skin will be cleansed and prepped. No numbing cream is needed, as the procedure is completely non-invasive and does not use any chemicals.

Using a small, blade-like instrument, the dermaplaning process exfoliates the skin, removing dirt, oil, and debris.

The blade strokes are very gentle and light, and feel just as you would imagine: like shaving or “scrubbing”.

Next, we use a mask customized to your skin type to detoxify and plump your skin—leaving it bright, energized, and glowing. Also, there’s no better way to end your dermaplaning session than with an application of our naturally derived, paraben- and sulfate-free moisturizer containing SPF to protect your refreshed skin from the sun.

Recovery and Results

There is no downtime involved with dermaplaning, but some patients will have some facial redness for the remainder of the day. It’s best to avoid wearing makeup during this time. Be very careful when washing your face, only using your hands for about two days. Although you should always wear sunscreen outdoors no matter what, it’s especially important to use sunscreen on the treated area anytime you go outside for the next few weeks following a dermaplaning treatment. Even though you’ll notice results after just one dermaplaning treatment, we recommend dermaplaning every 2-4 weeks for the best results.

We advise holding off on using any peeling agents, retinol, and exfoliants 3 nights prior to your treatment.

How much does dermaplaning cost?

Our dermaplaning sessions at Skin Dermatology are $80 for 30 minutes, with a $30 add-on fee with another service performed the same day.

Are there any skin types that this treatment isn’t recommended for?

No. Dermaplaning is great for all skin types. However, there are some restrictions for certain skin conditions, or recent treatments such as Accutane or other laser or injectable treatments. Please see the Candidates section to see these conditions.

Will dermaplaning cause my peach fuzz to grow back thicker or darker?

No. The facial hair that is removed during dermaplaning is so thin, fine, and soft that the blade will have no effect on how it looks when it regrows.

Can dermaplaning cause acne breakouts to develop?

No. In fact, dermaplaning actually helps to prevent acne breakouts in the first place because it’s an exfoliation treatment, which unclogs and cleans the pores.
