Will I Be Seen By a Doctor or Some Other Type of Helath Care Professioinal?

At Skin Dermatology, we currently employ a Board Certified Dermatologist, Dr. Alissa Lamoureux, and Certified Nurse Practitioner, Heather Galonzka, who has significant experience and training in Dermatology. Prior to any of our Certified Nurse Practitioners seeing patients they are trained and shadow Dr. Alissa Lamoureux for a minimum of 3 months. This ensures a common understanding of patient experience, care and safety. The choice of who you see for your care is ultimately always yours, but based on several different factors, like urgency, reason for visit, availability, insurance, etc. seeing our Certified Nurse Practitioners may be the best decision for you. Dr. Lamoureux is available for continuity of care purposes and not only oversee our Certified Nurse Practitioners, but also mentor and collaborate with them on your care. Please trust that you your care is being managed by a highly competent and caring health care provider team.

Do You Treat Patients of All Ages?

We treat patients of all ages. Skin problems can affect everyone from newborns to older adults. You or your family members should see a dermatologist whenever you have symptoms of skin trouble. Even if have never have had skin problems, it is a good idea to see a dermatologist for an annual skin exam. Nearly everyone will have some kind of skin problem in their lifetime. The skin protective barrier can break down due to age, disease or other factors. We can help you watch for the long-term effects of the environment, aging and disease and also help prevent skin problems.

How Long Should I Expect My Appointment to Take?

All appointments vary in time depending on circumstances for your visit. Each appointment will begin with a medical assistant reviewing your medical history. For general dermatology conditions and consultations, appointments can take from 10 to 20 minutes. For surgical dermatology, appointments can take from 15 to 30 minutes. For cosmetic dermatology, appointments can take from 15 minutes to an hour. Your dermatologist will discuss timing for longer appointments, such as surgeries and cosmetic procedures, prior to scheduling the appointment.
